Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has thrown his weight behind ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening State Houses of Assembly across Nigeria.
Guwor, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, made this known while participating in a consultative and validation meeting on the needs assessment report of State Legislatures in the country.
The meeting, held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, was convened by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) in collaboration with the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
It was themed “Promoting Good Governance and Citizens Access.”
The session featured presentations, plenary discussions, and goodwill messages, including remarks from the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
Speaking on the outcome, Guwor described the gathering as a timely intervention that provided a platform to deliberate on critical reform areas highlighted in the assessment conducted across the 36 State Assemblies.
He applauded the commitment of stakeholders, stressing that robust institutional performance of State Legislatures remains a cornerstone for good governance and sustainable national development.
