The Dangote Refinery will kick off its long-awaited free fuel distribution scheme on Monday, beginning in Lagos, the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.
According to a statement from Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina, the refinery has also reduced its petrol prices to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, while residents in Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States will pay N851 per litre.
“We are starting the free fuel distribution scheme on Monday. We will start with Lagos and the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers and Edo States. There will be a drop in price effective on Monday when the free distribution starts,” Chiejina said.
The initiative, originally scheduled to begin in August, faced delays due to logistics issues in China. However, with over 1,000 trucks already delivered, the refinery is now set to commence the programme as additional states are expected to benefit as more trucks arrive in the country.
The Dangote Group also announced a major rollout of CNG-powered trucks to strengthen its logistics network and reduce transportation costs. Despite a recent spike in CNG prices, the company reaffirmed its commitment to deploying 10,000 CNG trucks in 2025.
