Tragedy: Shooting Stars Assistant Coach, Akin Olowokere Dies During Training

Akin Olowokere, the newly appointed Assistant Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, tragically passed away on Monday morning after collapsing during a training session.

Olowokere, who only recently joined the Oluyole Warriors’ technical crew following the club’s restructuring and departure of former head coach Gbenga Ogunbote and his team, reportedly slumped on the pitch during the team’s morning training at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses told PUNCH Online that he received immediate medical attention and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly confirmed dead. The exact cause of his death is yet to be officially disclosed.

Before transitioning into coaching, Olowokere enjoyed a successful playing career with Sunshine Stars of Akure, his home state club. He later returned to the same team as an assistant coach under Edith Agoye.

Described as a calm and dedicated professional, Olowokere had only recently been unveiled as part of the new coaching setup at 3SC and was seen as a valuable addition to the team.

In a statement released Monday, the management of Shooting Stars expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden loss, describing his death as a significant blow to the club and the football community at large.

Further details regarding burial arrangements and tributes are expected in the coming days.
