2027: Clerics Offer Prayers For Tinubu, Oborevwori, Waive At ‘Revd Waive Annual Day Of Prayers’

Christian leaders from across Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency on Thursday, January 22, converged at the Ughelli Kingdom Hall for the 2026 edition of the Revd Francis Ejiroghene Waive (MHR) Annual Day of Prayers, offering fervent prayers for Nigeria and key political leaders ahead of 2027.

The prayer session attracted over 1,000 clergymen and church leaders drawn from all 32 wards in the constituency, with representatives from the five blocs of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) — the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Christian Council of Nigeria, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) and ECWA.

During the programme, special prayers were offered for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, seeking divine wisdom, protection and success for their leadership. The clerics also prayed for victory over insecurity and other challenges confronting the nation, as well as the success of ongoing reforms and electoral victories for the leaders in 2027.

The prayer warriors particularly expressed gratitude to God for the leadership style of Governor Oborevwori, describing him as “a divine gift to Delta State.”

“Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is a governor whose humane nature and good works reflect God’s hand upon Delta State,” one of the prayers noted, adding that “only God could have given such a leader to the people.”

The clergymen pledged to sustain the prayer support in their respective churches and homes and openly declared support for Hon. Waive’s re-election to the House of Representatives, noting that he has “made the Church proud through quality representation.”

Speaking at the event, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara and Ven. Badawusi commended Hon. Waive for remaining steadfast in his Christian faith despite the pressures of political office.
“Hon. Waive has shown that it is possible to keep the faith and serve God faithfully even while occupying political office,” they said.

Also praying at the event, Archbishop Obieh and Bishop Chris Okoh asked God to continue to make Hon. Waive “an example in a polluted environment,” while Rev. Deke and Ven. Kpagban prayed for divine protection and continuous victory for the lawmaker.

Responding, Rev. (Hon.) Francis Ejiroghene Waive, the Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, expressed deep appreciation to the clergymen for their unwavering prayers and support.

“I am deeply grateful to my fellow clergymen for standing with me consistently in prayers and support,” Waive said. “By the grace of God, I will continue to do more for Nigeria and serve the people with fear of God and commitment.”

The annual prayer event ended with renewed commitments by Christian leaders to continue interceding for peace, good governance and godly leadership at all levels in Nigeria.
