The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has congratulated former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ede Dafinone and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas on their emergence as winners of the party’s senatorial primaries held across the three senatorial districts of the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Delta State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and the party’s approved guidelines.

The party also commended all aspirants, party leaders and members who participated in the primaries for what it described as their maturity, commitment and dedication to the democratic process.

“The outcomes of these elections are expressions of the will of the members of the party,” the statement said.

According to the APC, the National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Delta State, led by Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo as Chairman and Barr. Musa Amagbor as Secretary, duly declared and announced the results in line with Section 9(ii)(e) of the party’s guidelines.

“The Senatorial Primaries were conducted peacefully and in substantial compliance with the approved guidelines of the party, as well as the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026,” the statement added.

The party further stressed its commitment to transparency, fairness and internal democracy, insisting that the conduct of the primaries reflected the wishes of party members across the state.

Calling for reconciliation and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, the APC urged all members and stakeholders to support the party’s candidates irrespective of the outcome of the primaries.

“As we congratulate our successful candidates, we urge all members and stakeholders to close ranks and work together in the larger interest of the party. Victory in the coming elections will require unity, sacrifice and collective effort from all of us,” the statement noted.

The party also reminded members that the State House of Assembly Direct Primary Elections will hold on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, across all wards in the state.

According to the statement, voting is scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m., with duly registered party members expected to vote for aspirants of their choice in accordance with party guidelines.

Reaffirming its commitment to credible internal processes, the APC said it remained dedicated to strengthening internal democracy within the party.
